Meet Chef from The Gospel stage hosted by Pamela Renee Smith. He is a native of New Orleans Louisiana and a chef of Cajun Creole and Southern-style soul food. But first and foremost He is a child of God, an overcomer, survivor with a testimony and story to tell.

I started singing in churches in South Carolina at 5 years old (my siblings and I were the background singers for our mother). After moving to Philadelphia, as a teenager, I continued singing in church, where my pastor assigned me to be a lead soloist. I also began singing at weddings and funerals. My sisters and I formed a group called the McCurdy Sisters, where we sang songs by the Clark Sisters. I directed a few choirs in our church. Being a fan of jazz and standards, later in life I began to take vocal lessons from the late Don Wilson. After Don became sick he encouraged me to continue lessons with Alfie Pollitt, which I did.
